Consciously consider the nature of habits

Seed #2- Habits

Habit by definition is said to be a settled or regular tendency – one that is hard to give up.

*****  Please keep in mind that if you have developed a habit that feels good to you, lifts you up, continues to have life within the activity, and adds to the quality of life, that is a tendency you would want to continue to nurture. This post is bringing a  seed of thought regarding habits that some may not have considered. As with all my posts: take what works for you and leave the rest 🙂

habits~ are they ruling your life?When it comes to unhealthy habits, such as excessive drinking, over eating, smoking and so on we can make logical sense of why this ” habit ” must come to an end. Still the challenge is great. The tendency is to follow the dictates of the habit and override the good sense of maintaining the health of the body. The behavioral pattern is strong and is in nearly every sense of the word the “leader” of the life being led not lived. No one would like to think or admit, for example, that alcohol or food are leading their life but the truth speaks for itself.

Habits create a structure limiting the true needs of the body. If you think of this structure as a prison you get a pretty good idea of how limiting a habit is regarding the true needs of our whole selves. Habits override the sensitive response of the body. Adhering to an imposed learned behavior does not provide openness for a true response. On some level all who are enslaved by a habit know that its effects extend and affect the mental body as well as the emotional body. The torture of opposing  thoughts that play out when one continues to participate or attempts to break free from a habit can make one exhausted, feeling out of control and out of touch.

Some Other Possible Habits:

What of the habit of complaining, of engaging in or starting negative conversation and/or gossip?  Are you in a habit of saying negative things about your self, your surroundings, or life in general?  Are you in a habit of talking negatively about your body to yourself or others because of its shape or health condition? Are you in a habit of wearing rose colored glasses for every situation ignoring your true feelings? What about saying “yes” to every request that comes your way whether you want to comply or not?  Are you in a habit of saying “no” to every invite adhering to isolation? These are habits that wreak havoc with the body, mind, spirit, and soul. Consider what you may have incorporated into your daily life that has become a habit, a regular tendency that is not adding to the quality of life.

rise above judgment and denialWhen digging a little deeper we can discover judgments and denial fueling the need or choice to adhere to habits. A lack of self worth, self love, and self acceptance can fuel the choice to remain attached to a habit that is destroying the body and life in general. It is interesting to note how easily we can identify a so called ” bad” habit like I mentioned earlier ie. smoking, drinking etc. but what of a so called ” good ” habit. Habits are habits and if the structure of a good habit is overriding the sensitive response of the body, how “good” is it really?

 A few common examples:

1) Exercise. Of course we all know exercise is good for the body, however, if one is overriding the sensitive response of the body, exercise takes on a different tone. An example: “ I run everyday no matter what. I push myself even when I don’t feel like it.” Now a fine line is being drawn here because there are times when giving ourselves a little push is what takes us to the next level. Here again, knowing yourself and hearing the voice of your body is all-important. However, if this person pushes everyday giving no honor to the voice of the body that speaks of sore muscles, a need for rest or painful joints, some part of the body will break down. This is when the person has created a situation of forced rest by incurring an injury. The habit overrode the sensitive and wise response of the body. The judgment here could be, “I have to run or I will get fat. I have to run or I will get depressed.”

2) Food/Diet:   Are you someone who says, “I never eat this or I always eat that.” If your body is happy and your energy is vital then you are most likely giving your body what it needs. If it isn’t perhaps listening more closely to the needs of the body may have you relaxing in your “always/never” approach to nutrition. The body may have different needs during different times of the year. A change in season whether it be the seasons of the year or the seasons of ones life can call for new and varied nutrition to maintain balance. Free yourself from strict habits to hear the true needs of the body.

3) Techniques, ritual or ceremony: When techniques, rituals or ceremonies become habits or crutches and one is merely going through the motions, growth slows and then stops. This is your signal to let them go. Remain in the stillness; be patient with the emptiness for a time until a fresh new insight or inspiration comes to you and it will. Then, with renewed energy and passion involve yourself in the techniques, rituals or ceremonies that are infused with life and love.

Consciously Live in Balance:

consciously live life balancedWe are in the best shape physically, mentally and emotionally when we are living in balance, when we live consciously and honor the needs of the body, mind, spirit, and soul moment by moment, day by day. We are exhibiting great personal power when we are leading our life consciously with love as the guiding light rather than the dictates of a habit. With love as a guiding light we do not ignore the needs of our body, our mind, our spirit and our soul.  With love guiding us we are spiritually awakened and treat others with the same love and respect as we treat ourselves. We do not override the needs of others any more than we override our own needs.

Becoming conscious of the judgments and denials that are adhered to, making habits so powerful, will set anyone free from such if they have intent to be free. Discover your true nature, it is free, it is powerful and it is beautiful. If your true nature is imprisoned in a habit, know that it longs to be free. Any move you make to break free will be supported by Source. Trust that you can hear true guidance to live your life whole, happy, and free!

I planted a seed of thought. Nurture it with your attention. Ensure you are not living life one habit after another. Ensure you are living life awake and aware making choices that reflect the true needs and calling of the moment each and every day. There is so much to be grateful for. Living life free from self imposed constraints is one of them. Sharing our love freely with others is another.

Consciously Care for the Body

Seed #1-The Body:

The body is sometimes called the temple of God. This gives us an idea of its great importance. To care for the body is to listen to its needs and then provide the body with those needs in a timely and kind fashion. To care for the body is to say, “Thank-you, I appreciate this amazing vehicle you have given me Mother/Father God and because you dwell within me I will provide you with my open heart and a  healthy temple to the best of my current ability.” Caring for our body speaks of gratitude and appreciation to our Creator without uttering a single word.

The time has come for us to remember the healer that dwells within and begin the process of trusting in that innate power to maintain the health of our body or heal our body if we wake up and discover it is not well. When we are no longer hiding from others or ourselves an attitude of openness and acceptance begins the process of healing our mind, spirit, soul and our physical body. We have everything within us to heal ourselves and become whole if we allow it. When we quiet ourselves enough to listen to the needs of the body we begin to discover much about who we are and what brings us the joy we were born to experience.

Many people feel unloved and uneasy in their own skin. This feeling sends an unloving message to the body. The body eventually feels this lost alignment and begins to break down. The truth is love has never abandoned us. We have blocked the flow of love from reaching us for a variety of reasons and many of these reasons are not recognized consciously. Caring for the body is one way to open and receive the never-ending flow of love that contains vitality and inspiration.  Quieting the mind with meditation provides a way for us to get in touch with our quiet inner voice and the voice of the body and its needs. Aligning with Mother/Father God, who resides within us, will always impart the perfect wisdom for the health of this amazing physical vehicle we have the privilege of caring for.

Everything is consciousness and as we grow we begin to realize the body has a consciousness too. Healthy self-love will always guide us to the best nutrition and exercise. In this loving alignment you will discover the joy of caring for your body has replaced the resistance. The unconscious abuse is replaced by a conscious desire to provide the best conditions for the body.

Natural balance is the guiding light for optimal health in all areas of life. When we seek balance we know intuitively when it is time to rest and when it is time for activity. Our physical body is the most recognizable of the bodies we have but we must include balance and wellness in our emotional, mental and ethereal (spiritual) bodies as well.

When we ignore the inner promptings we will experience exhaustion, ill health, pain, stress and depression. This happens when we force ourselves to move ahead when we need rest or find ourselves so bogged down we cannot move at all due to an over load mentally, emotionally, and/or  through poor nutrition and lack of exercise.  None of this is the natural state of our mental, emotional, or physical body. These experiences are loud calls from the body that inform the individual that he or she is out of alignment with Source and therefore out of alignment with the Self. It is time to get in touch with all that you are and that includes your body.

Make Friends with Your body:

When was that last time you had a conversation with your body? I am not referring to talking about your body but rather “to” the consciousness of your body. Have you ever thanked your body for making this adventure on earth possible? Have you ever asked your body what it would like to maintain health? Have you ever asked a body pain what it is trying to tell you? If you have, did you wait long enough to hear a response? If you did, did you follow through with the inspired message? If so, well then you know exactly what I am talking about. You have connected with the inner healer and the voice of the body.

The power to heal is within us. If all this is foreign to you I would like to suggest that you slowly begin to connect with your body. This intimate connection of asking, listening and following through on the inspired thoughts that come, sends messages of love to your body. This is vital for overall health and total wellness.

Conversely, talking badly about your body or to your body, sending messages of disgust and hate is very debilitating and will result in a breakdown of the very vehicle that makes living on earth possible. Please stop hating your waistline, your nose, your ears or whatever you happen to fixate upon seeing it as less than perfect or beautiful. Your body is an intricate whole system. We must love all parts that make up the whole of it. Don’t wait until something serious happens before you appreciate what you have now. It is time to do away with the constant scrutiny of ones body wishing or hoping for some unrealistic perfection brought about by the pressures of society and airbrushing.

Regardless of where these pressures come from they are only as effective and real as you make them. Stop buying into the illusion that makes you feel so much less than you really are. Begin to see your body for the amazing creation that it truly is. If you find your body in poor condition remember you can change that one step at a time. We all have an inner healer ready and waiting to help guide us. Call upon yours in a loving way and allow yourself to embrace the new thoughts and directions that come into your open and receptive mind. The body temple is resilient and responses to love and kind attention in a very positive manner. Do you love and appreciate your body? If you do then you will be happy to take great care of it. If you haven’t taken the time to think about whether or not you do, now is the time. If you are careless or harsh to your body, it is time to stop. I hope we all come to realize that love and care is the way to a healthy body and a happy lifestyle. Love thyself and that includes your body .

Emotional Container

To understand the idea of containing emotions we must first see ourselves as containers. Contain by definition means to have or to hold, to consist of. We, as human beings, contain energy. We are energy. Our physical form allows us to experience and express life on planet earth and yet our energy extends beyond our body.

To be a healthy container we are neither erupting with excessive emotional expression nor are we holding back. We have a strong and large energy field that allows us to remain peaceful even during stressful situations. Our energy field does not collapse with every challenge that comes to greet us. We have personal power. We are experiencing personal growth consciously. Aware of our spiritual awakening, we take on responsibility to create the best life ever.


 Conscious Breathing


To have a strong, flexible and large field of energy one must become conscious of their breathing. This sounds simple and it is; yet the majority of people do not give a thought to how they are breathing. They simply know they are because they are still alive. A person who breaths shallow (upper lungs only) through out the day will not have a strong field of energy. Many people actually hold their breath periodically unconsciously through out the day. If one does not breath full deep rhythmic breaths their container will be weak. Small annoyances will become large and sometimes even preoccupy the mind. Frustration spills out randomly or is held down with force. In either case, energy is not well contained, flowing and energizing the individual so they eventually become tired, uninspired, depleted and often times even depressed. A great way to get in touch with your breath is to begin a daily meditation. Focus on the sound of your breath and consciously follow each inhalation and exhalation. With as little as five minutes in the morning and the evening you will begin to notice a positive difference in your ability to handle stress and good times alike within 14-30 days.

Emotion is energy in motion.

We are the healthiest when we allow our emotions to flow, when we are conscious enough to purify our negative emotions without judgment, when we neither depend on our emotions to manipulate a situation nor stifle nor suffocate them. When we are able to contain our emotions we are ensuring ourselves of an ample supply of energy. Remember to contain emotions is not restricting the flow. Rather we are in balance with truthful expression imbued with love. Even anger can be permeated with the feeling and uplifting clarity of love, if we allow it.

When we are a masterful container for our emotions we do not drown in emotions nor do we drown others in our emotional expression.

We will be conscious enough of the undercurrents of emotions to be both informed of their true nature and influenced in such a way that we seek and find harmony and union with the truthful vibrations of love, peace, kindness, generosity, patience and understanding. To detect undercurrents in ourselves gives us the opportunity to come together putting both feet on the same path so to speak. To detect undercurrents in others brings us information that we feel as intuition and can guide us to make good choices.

Understanding our currents of energy

To be a large healthy container of energy allows us to understand our currents of energy and provides us a clear opportunity to direct the flow of our energy consciously. In what direction do we want to go? Do you desire freedom? Understand what freedom means to you right now and direct your energy thus. You desire love? Understand what that means to you right now, today and direct your current of energy accordingly. Do you desire a new career? Understand what that means to you, what it looks like and feels like, then direct your energy to begin creating opportunities. Does that mean you go back to school or does that mean you start to draw up plans and ideas to start your own business?

Our energy is directed by the nature of our thoughts and what we pay attention to. Our emotions are to be honored, understood and if they are of a low vibrational nature, we are to use the power of our thoughts to lift them up. Our thoughts are not meant to ignore or dismiss the true nature of our emotions simply because they are unpleasant. This will make it difficult if not impossible for lower vibrating emotions to lighten up and meet with joy, happiness, love and peace. Our thoughts are to acknowledge and honor our feelings and offer direction. There is an unspoken agreement between our thoughts and our feelings when emotions are acknowledged for what they are and gently guided upward.

Become aware and pay attention to your emotional expression and inspired thoughts. Vibrations hold information.  Emotions have something to teach us. Become bold enough in your thinking to create and recognize new opportunities. Apply your expanded thinking to practical everyday activities. Become conscious of your breathing and strengthen your field of energy. Hold your space and know your thoughts. See yourself as a healthy container of energy that is aligned with the never-ending well spring of love from Source. This is an abundant universe.

Revolutionize your life. Break through the old patterns of unconscious activity.  Liberate yourself from unhealthy thinking. Trust in the graceful flow of honest emotional expression, expressing your true nature. Purify your thoughts, words and deeds and dare to succeed. Happiness is the expression of a successful life.
